Who It's For

Hunters and trappers who wade through standing water and push through the kind of cover that destroys ordinary chaps. The Brush Buster Chap with Dan's Frogger Boot pairs Dan's heaviest-duty briarproof chap with the rugged, cold-rated Frogger Boot for a hip wader built to handle water, ice, Russian olive, barbed wire, and anything else the worst terrain can throw at it.

What Are Froglegs?

Froglegs are Dan's solution to hip-deep conditions. Each pair starts with a briarproof outer chap lined with water-repellent nylon that runs all the way down to the lower ankle. Dan's team then sews and seals that chap directly to the boot of your choice, creating a waterproof hip wader that also sheds briars and brush from boot to belt. Wear them pulled up and attached to your belt with the adjustable straps, or fold them down and snap them at the knee when conditions allow.

How It's Built

Dan's Brush Buster Chap

  • 1000 denier Magnatuff nylon briarproof shell
  • Water-repellent nylon lining extends to the lower ankle
  • Twice the fabric weight of the Five Star Chap for maximum thorn resistance
  • Brown

Dan's Frogger Boot

  • Chemically resistant rubber construction
  • Extra thick 2 mil. overlay with additional rubber underlays in high-puncture areas
  • Gel-Comfort insole
  • Xtreme Traction tread is aggressive in mud, rocks, and snow
  • 16" boot height, 100% waterproof
  • Steel shank in outsole
  • Comfort range: -20°F to 70°F
  • Weight: 5.6 lbs.

Why It's Worth It

  • Maximum Thorn Resistance: 1000 denier Magnatuff, Dan's toughest chap material, pushes through cover that would shred a lighter chap.
  • Hip-Deep Waterproof: The sewn-and-sealed chap-to-boot construction keeps water out from boot sole to belt through creek crossings, beaver ponds, and flooded timber.
  • Briarproof From Boot to Belt: Water-repellent nylon lining runs to the lower ankle so briars and sharp sticks don't find a gap at the boot top.
  • Cold-Rated to -20°F: The Frogger Boot's chemically resistant rubber and Gel-Comfort insole keep you warm and comfortable through the coldest nights.
  • Xtreme Traction: Aggressive tread handles mud, rocks, snow, and icy creek banks without losing its footing.
  • Hand-Sewn in the USA: The chap and sealing process are crafted in Ohio for superior quality and field-readiness.

Sizing Guide

  • Chap thigh: Measure around the largest part of your thigh over your jeans and add 2–3 inches. Order 2–3 inches shorter than your normal inseam; 3 inches shorter is recommended. If between sizes, most buyers choose the shorter length.
  • Boot size: Dan's Frogger Boots size similarly to Muck Boots. If you're unsure of your size, trying on a pair of Mucks at a local store is a reliable guide. If you plan to wear heavy socks, size up.

    Excellent product.

Just got these and have worn them beaver trapping 4 or 5 times is all but they’re great. I’ve ran into sharp pieces of ice and thorns and no issues so far. For the most part, I hate rubber boots. They anre always sloppy no matter what size and cause blisters for me. Dans are very comfortable, no hot spots so far and I really like them a lot. I’ve seen complaints of them being too stiff which is not true at all.

Tough outers, but 1 boot leaks...

Bought these several years ago after not finding any better alternative Hippers that last more than 1 Duck season. The outer material is tough enough, but the right boot leaks in 2 places on mine. 1 leak is at the welded seam between the boot and inner liner. The other leak is through the rubber sole of the boot tread, which is bizarre... My right foot/sock ALWAYS gets wet when I wear them. Also, I wear an 11 in everything, and ordered 11 in these. They are tight for anymore than 1 pair of socks, and even then they are a struggle to get on, and really difficult if the inner boot is moist, damp or wet.
